Nitro’s journey to SKER began far from home—he was found all the way out past Ceduna after tragically losing his mum. Still a joey in her pouch, Nitro was transported to us and upon arrival at our wildlife clinic, he received a full veterinary check.
It quickly became clear that Nitro was struggling with gut mobility issues, a condition that’s required ongoing medication and monitoring. But despite his sensitive tummy, Nitro is absolutely full of beans! He adores his bottle and loves to burrow deep into his fluffy bed.

In South Australia, wombats are not allowed to be released back to the wild, so Nitro will live out his full life on our 22 acre property being adored by all of our volunteers.
Your sponsorship of Nitro will ensure that he receives delicious carrots and sweet potatoes, fresh hay and replacement bedding and blankets when he destroys them, plus enable us to expand his enclosure and provide enrichment items for him to play with.
