Marina
Rescued : 03 /04/2025 Reason: Vehicle strike Weight: 8kg Sex: Female
In the pre-dawn light, Marina was struck, but thankfully, a responsible driver stopped and called for assistance. To the casual observer, she seemed lucky, bearing only a couple of minor scratches on her nose. However, the urgent examination at our wildlife vet clinic unveiled a far more serious situation. An ultrasound exposed a hidden danger: significant abdominal hemorrhaging.
Marina was placed on intravenous fluids, given pain relief, and kept under close veterinary observation. Our dedicated SKER team worked tirelessly, meticulously tracking her vital signs, adapting her treatment, and even sourcing the most palatable eucalyptus leaves to tempt her. The internal bleeding lessened, and a sense of optimism finally settled among the team. Now, she's in one of our outdoor pens, continuing her journey of recovery – a powerful reminder of nature's tenacity and the need for our vital services.
How I got my name: Rescued from Seaview Road in Morphett Vale, my rescuers chose a sea-related name starting with "M" to honor Morphett Vale – that's how I got my name, Marina
Favourite eucalypt to eat: River Red Gum (Eucalyptus Camaldulensis)
