Buster
Rescued : 01/08/2019 Reason: Orphan Joey Weight: 30kg Sex: Male
Buster’s mother died while he was still a joey in her pouch, but was saved and hand raised by the people that found him. Unfortunately, he was fed cow's milk as a result was very unwell when he came to SKER. Cow’s milk is very bad for marsupials and it can kill them but with some TLC he grew to be a healthy young wombat.
Sadly, wombats are not permitted to be released back into the wild in South Australia, so Buster will spend the rest of his life on our 22-acre property, where he is beloved by all of our volunteers.
Buster has a charming personality, and loves to spin around in circles, head-butt visitors, and receive tummy rubs. By sponsoring Buster, you can help ensure that he receives the best care possible, including delicious carrots and sweet potatoes, fresh hay, and replacement bedding and blankets when he destroys them.

Nitro
Rescued : 26 /06/2025 Reason: Orphan Weight: 3.1kg Sex: Male
Nitro’s journey to SKER began far from home—he was found all the way out past Ceduna after tragically losing his mum. Still a joey in her pouch, Nitro was transported to us and upon arrival at our wildlife clinic, he received a full veterinary check.
It quickly became clear that Nitro was struggling with gut mobility issues, a condition that’s required ongoing medication and monitoring. But despite his sensitive tummy, Nitro is absolutely full of beans! He adores his bottle and loves to burrow deep into his fluffy bed.
Unlike most of our wildlife patients, wombats like Nitro cannot be released in South Australia due to state regulations. Because of this, humanisation is not only allowed but encouraged—preparing Nitro for a lifelong home on our 22-acre sanctuary, where he’ll have safety, companionship, and the freedom to be his playful self.
Facts about me: I love snuggling in my bed, chasing peoples feet and drinking my milk. Like my name suggests when I get the zoomies I go full speed.
