A New Clinic Table That’s Making a Big Difference

In early August, something exciting arrived at our wildlife hospital — a brand-new adjustable veterinary clinic table! This incredible piece of equipment was proudly funded through a game-changing grant from Alinta Energy, and it’s already making a huge difference to both our team and the wildlife in our care.

One of the most important features of the new table is its adjustable height, which allows our veterinary team to work in a more comfortable and sustainable way. Instead of being forced to stand for long procedures, the table can be lowered to allow vets to sit when needed. This flexibility proved invaluable recently when a specialist ophthalmologist, Dr Ria from The Austin Vet Specialists visited to perform delicate surgery on the eye of an echidna, “Squinty”. By lowering the table, the team was able to focus entirely on the procedure without the fatigue that comes from standing for long periods.

Dr Erik and Dr Ria focused on a very delicate procedure to remove the damaged eye on an echidna named Squinty.

Better ergonomics for our team means better outcomes for the wildlife we treat. Less strain and fatigue translate into smoother procedures, faster response times, and an even higher standard of care for every patient who comes through our doors.

We are deeply grateful to Alinta Energy for their generous support. This grant has helped us make a practical, lasting improvement to our clinic — one that supports both our hardworking veterinary team and the native animals who rely on us. 🐨🦔💚
