Volunteering with SKER
Southern Koala and Echidna Rescue (SKER) is a science-focused organisation run entirely by passionate volunteers. We’re proud to have built a positive, supportive, and safe culture — one that thrives through careful recruitment, regular evaluations, and inclusive team workshops. Together, our amazing volunteers have contributed over 7,000 hours in FY25 alone!
We usually hold 2–3 volunteer recruitment sessions each year, typically between May and September. Because SKER is completely volunteer-led, our top priority is always the well-being of the animals — especially during our busiest rescue periods. We truly appreciate your interest in joining our team and will contact you once dates for the next recruitment session are confirmed.
Please note:
All volunteers must be 18 years or older.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to accommodate school work experience students.
As a science-based organisation, and to protect our vulnerable volunteers, we require all volunteers to have Covid-19 and other relevant vaccinations.
